CBD stands for cannabidiol. It is one of over 100 identified cannabinoids found in the cannabis or marijuana plant. Cannabidiol is the second-most abundant cannabinoid in the plant after tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Unlike THC, however, CBD is a non-intoxicating substance, and cannot stimulate the level of psychoactive effects that THC does.
